FOCUS
Vapour-liquid equilibrium study for multi-component system

In today's industrial world, where many chemical industries are facing the problem of separating various phases of multicomponent system, vapour -liquid equilibria is proving to be an ideal practical approach to overcome this tedious work. The actual industrial work requires separation of more than three or four components...

PROCESS
Mediated electrochemical partial oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde
The mediated anodic oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde by redox mediators was studied using Mn3+/ Mn2+ and Ce4+/ Ce3+ systems in sulphuric acid. PbO2/Pb electrodes were used. The reaction was carried out in two steps. The spent electrolyte was regenerated after treatment by different techniques to obtain the maximum possible current efficiency during regeneration.

RESEARCH
Production of carbon nanotubes from coal and potential uses of nanomaterials (nanocomposites) of carbon nanotubes
There are big and strong hopes of using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as nanocomposite materials in a large number of industries. The cost of production of CNTs, their purity a and properties will have an effect on their application in chemical, mechanical, computer,  medical, electrical, construction etc. industries. Coal is a cheaper feedstock for the production of CNTs. Organo-refining or chemical leaching of coal may be utilized for the production of an ultra-super clean coal, which may be utilized for the production of CNTs.

FILTRATION & SEPARATION
Gas permeation using poly(ether-b-amide) segmented block copolymer
The gas permeation properties of copolymers depended on their
chemical composition, and morphology. Particularly, block co-polymers
exhibit a different gas permeation behavior from that of homopolymers.
So this research focused on preparation and permeation  studies of
PEBAX -2533(Polyether-block-amide). Blending PEG of varying
molecular weight with PEBAX; wherein the advantages of PEG in
enhanced sorption of select gases is anticipated..
