Study of etherification reaction from tert-butyl alcohol and ethanol catalyzed by Amberlyt -15
In this paper, the liquid phase reversible reaction of ethanol and tert-butyl alcohol catalyzed by Amberlyst -15, ion exchange resin was carried out in a stirrer batch three neck round bottom glass reactor. Experiment was carried out in the temperature range of 323 K - 338K under atmosphere pressure. DESIGN
Use of neural networks for modeling the HETP in batch packed vacuum distillation column: An experimental study
Design of packed column requires HETP predictions. There is
arbitrariness in HETP prediction of structured packings with low pressure distillation operations. In the present work different models such as Murch correlation, ANN based model were studied. An attempt wasalso made to correlate various dimensionless groups and their effects on HETP were investigated. Furthermore the effects of feed composition, pressure, relative volatility, mass vapor velocity have also been studied with the application of experimental data. Artificial Neural network (ANN) model which has been developed is trained and validated with test data sets. Results reveal that the model thus developed is in high accuracy and speed with experimental HETP values.

Cheese whey mother liquor treatment: ß-galactosidase production to generate wealth from waste
Cheese whey is a liquid byproduct of the cheese making process that contains important constituents such as albumin and lactose. Long-term land disposal of whey causes environmental pollution problems. Since, lactose and whey protein is the major contributor to biological oxygen demand, using the whey, as a substrate for the production of ß-galactosidase enzyme will reduce its pollution potential, at the same producing a value added product.
