    FEATURES

    India's Clean Energy Strategy
Power sector is the largest contributor to emissions globally. With the growth of indian power sector to meet with the growing demand the emissions have increased manifolds during the period 1997 to 2007. The Government is focused on development of clean energy sources to mitigate the impact on the environment with greater emphasis to harness energy from new and renewable resources.

    Responsible Use of Sewage Water
All forms of carbon one day or the other end up as Carbon dioxide. However the duration of time in preserving carbon dioxide without releasing into atmosphere is a vital point in carbon capture. Fossil fuel usage is not likely to cease any time soon, either in industrialised or less-developed countries. Therefore, a variety of strategies are needed to reduce CO2 emissions and remove carbon from the atmosphere in order to decrease the appalling effects of climate change.

Membrane Technology to Give Boost to Production of Biofuels
Operators of second generation processes seek to optimise fuel recovery and secondary products from the feedstock. In addition, these operators want to obtain a better value fuel than first-generation bioethanol processes, which focused exclusively on fuel production and simply disposed of everything else as waste or animal feed material. Membrane filtration technology, a tried and proven method used in many industrial process streams, is now being adopted in biofuels production and integrated biorefineries. In particular, membrane filtration technology shows promise to improve “second-generation” cellulosic ethanol processes.

The Application of Automation to Significantly Accelerate Polymer Latex Research
Polymer latexes are essential components in a wide range of commercial products and formulations such as, paints, cosmetics, coatings, biotechnology and functionalized supports. Many difficulties are intrinsic to the implementation of polymer latex research, particularly in the purification of the final latex dispersions and the control and reproducibility of particle size, therefore making high-throughput research in this area especially challenging. In this article, we demonstrate how the investigation of the influential synthesis factors on polymer latex materials properties can be swiftly and reproducibly achieved by the combinational use of experimental design, automated synthesis and a newly developed high-throughput purification process. Through the implementation of flexible automated platforms, a significant increase in the throughput of this previously manual process was achieved. Reaction models were used to examine the synergistic and antagonistic effects of the latex synthesis parameters, thereby allowing the controlled synthesis of fully characterized libraries of surfaceefunctional polymer latexes to be rapidly produced and screened for a wide range of applications.
